Qualifications

The successful RIA candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • AUM range: $50 million - $500 million
  • Fee-based pricing structure
  • Clients: individuals, families and trusts; investable assets: $500k - $20m
  • CPA, JD or CFP (dual credentials preferred)
  • 5+ years financial planning experience with HNW clients
  • Previous comprehensive, fee-based planning experience
  • Demonstrated level of technical expertise on estate, tax, and wealth planning issues
  • Effective presentation, listening, writing, and communication skills

Planning Director

Responsibilities:

  • Helping to determine the strategic direction of the planning team and its services
  • Managing the team e.g. human resources and professional development.
  • Restructuring and growing the group as a revenue-generating entity
  • Managing workflow efficiencies
  • Assisting advisors with business development
  • Chairing the Planning Committee
  • Executing sophisticated planning engagements
  • Assessing and incorporating additional lines of planning services
  • Educating advisors regarding substantive planning topics
  • Supporting broader firm initiatives, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) is required, CPA, JD, or MBA desirable
  • At least 10 years of financial planning experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience is preferred
  • Additional experience or expertise in insurance, income tax, and/or estate planning is preferred
  • Experience with equity compensation, including but not limited to the tax impacts of exercising and selling options
  • Highly proactive with a disciplined and solid work ethic
  • Highly attentive to customer service and client care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills
  • Experience with Money Guide Pro is highly desirable

As a leader of the planning team, you will work alongside our advisors to assess prospective and existing client needs and will help gather data, enter data into various planning tools, and assist advisors in implementing plans. In addition to overall plan modeling, duties will include creating detailed strategies around income taxes, estate planning, insurance, and education funding and working with outside professionals to implement the various strategies. You will also be asked to assist advisors in preparing for quarterly investment and planning reviews and to share best practices with advisors around substantive planning and administrative topics.
